Sanitization and deodorization on board yachts: the solutions offered by Protea Ozonizers

Protea ozonizers came from a deep knowledge of the marine industry and boats which allowed it on the one hand to accurately identify the most frequent problems in terms of bad smells and unhealthy conditions and on the other to operate correctly while respecting the technical dynamics and on-board operations. 1) ELIMINATION OF BAD SMELLS FROM AIR VENTS – PROWAT SERIES

The Protea ozonizers of the Prowat series allow to eliminate bad smells due to black and gray water tanks and coming out from the air vents. Installing Protea’s Prowat ozonating systems means not having any back pressure on the line (and related problems), treating malodorous gases up to the users and preventing the formation of bacteria. Furthermore, Protea’s Ozone solutions translate into economic savings since no particular maintenance or replacement is required (e.g. as in the case of carbon filters), which also means benefiting from technical and management advantages.

2) ODORS TREATMENT IN THE BILGE – PROSENT SERIES

Prosent ozonizers designed by Protea allow you to have a bilge that is constantly reclaimed and without annoying odors. A sanitized bilge also results in better comfort on board and maintenance of the value of the boat over time.

3) INLET AIR SANITATION AND DEODORIZATION FOR AHU AND AIR DUCTS – PROUTA SERIES

AHUs on board in most cases are not equipped with a system that sanitizes the incoming air or that effectively eliminates odors coming from the outside. For this reason, Protea has developed a series of ozonating systems (Prouta line) which eliminate sucked odors, prevent contamination from external pollutants, deeply sanitize the internal surfaces of the ducts while maintaining their healthiness, without the need of frequent maintenance or complex cleaning operations.

4) AIR RECIRCULATION SANITIZATION THROUGH FANCOILS – DINAMICO3 SERIES

Protea’s mini ion-ozonating devices of the DinamicO3 series, through a continuous and automatic treatment, guarantee healthier cabins on board and a much better air quality. Thanks to the negative ions and micro quantities of Ozone of the DinamicO3 systems, the airborne bacteria are eliminated, the filter is allowed to collect larger quantities of airborne particles, the internal ducts of the fancoil are sanitized (otherwise almost impossible to reach!), smells in the cabins and treated rooms are eliminated.

5) FRESHWATER TANKS SANITATION – PURITAS SERIES

Thanks to Protea Puritas system, it is possible to benefit from healthy water with the elimination of bacteria, viruses, algae and spores. The Ozone produced by Puritas ozone generator constantly and automatically reclaims the freshwater stored in the tank and, at the same time, deeply sanitizes the surfaces of the tank itself and the water pipes up to the users. Compared to conventional solutions (e.g. chemicals based on Chlorine), Ozone is a natural product that does not release chemical residues nor  leave a bad taste or odor to the water.

6) TREATMENT OF COLD STORAGE ROOMS, FOOD AND GARBAGE ROOM – CUSTOM CELL SERIES

The treatment of food in cold storage rooms is one of the longest-lived applications of Ozone in the food industry. This, in fact, turns out to be a successful application for various reasons: odors present in the cold room are eliminated, the ripening of fruit and vegetables is slowed down by reducing ethylene, the shelf-life of other products such as meat and fish is extended, the quality of food preservation is improved, cross-contamination (e.g. odors, bacteria and molds) between batches of different products is avoided, all internal surfaces of the cold room and of the storage boxes are sanitized. 7) REDUCTION OF SMELLS COMING OUT OF KITCHEN HOODS – HOO3D SERIES

Protea HOO3D ozonizers have been designed and manufactured to drastically reduce odors coming out of the kitchen hood extraction duct. This problem is particularly evident in cases where the hood extraction grid is located in lived-in areas or areas of passage on board. Following the canonical mechanical filtration, Ozone is a powerful aid to reduce to a minimum the smells coming out from the hood, in a natural, effective, automatic way and without refills (e.g. filters of various types). Ozone, in fact, does not cover odors but actually eliminates them through an oxidative process that is not comparable to other types of treatment.
